Lugano offers easy access to a variety of stunning destinations just waiting to be discovered. Let's embark on a virtual adventure to some of the most enchanting places you can visit from Lugano.


Lake Como on a boat: from Menaggio to Varenna & Bellagio


Venture out from Lugano to Lake Como, a short journey that promises breathtaking views at every turn. Start your journey with a bus N C12 to Menaggio, a charming town known for its elegant architecture and serene atmosphere. From there, hop on a boat to Varenna, a picturesque village with colorful houses cascading down to the lake. Conclude your Lake Como exploration in Bellagio, often referred to as the "Pearl of the Lake," where lush gardens and stunning villas await. For coming back take the same route to Menaggio and from there back with the bus C12 to Lugano.

You can also visit just 1 out of 2 options, either Varenna or Belaggio. Both are accessible from Menaggio with a boat.

City of Como - A Train Ride Away


For a convenient day trip, catch a direct 30-mins train from Lugano train station to the City of Como. Explore the historic center, wander along the lakeside promenade, and marvel at the impressive Como Cathedral (Duomo di Como). Don't forget to indulge in some local delicacies at one of the cozy cafes scattered around the city.


Personal Tip: For the beautiful views take the Como-Brunate funicular and have a pleasant walk through the small Brunate town with the beautiful views over Como.

Morcote - A Tranquil Boat Trip


Embark on a scenic boat trip from Lugano to Morcote, a hidden gem nestled on the shores of Lake Lugano. Discover the beautiful Santa Maria del Sasso church perched on a hill, offering stunning panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Take a leisurely stroll through the quaint streets and immerse yourself in the peaceful ambiance of this charming village.

Heading back to Lugano you can take a bus 431 to Lugano Piazza Rezzonico or just the same boat back to the city.

Caslano and Ponte Tresa - Train Excursion


Hop on a train S60 from Lugano Stazione and journey to Caslano for a delightful escape. Caslano, known for its olive groves and Mediterranean flair, is the perfect place for a swim or walk in the nature around Caslano peninsula.

From there continue your adventure by a short boat ride to Ponte Tresa, a small town bordering Italy. You can cross the Italian border from Switzerland just on foot.

On Saturdays you can explore here the local food markets or enjoy a lunch or dinner at serene beauty of Lake Lugano. Back you can take a direct train to Lugano train station (Lugano Stazione).
